A guided tour of Domaine Guinand was given by one of the owners followed by a sampling of various bottles of wine. Those of us who sat it out (Bette and me) did so in the adjacent room. The tour got us up close to the hatches over the storage tanks where the grapes were offloaded to and fermented. There was also a room filled with wooden barrels where the wines were aged. After the tour we were served a picnic lunch of salad, beef stew and rice, and dessert. Wine, white and red, was served with the meal...local label of course.

This was a quick intro into the sites we'd be able to visit while in Arles
with minature models of those attractions.
The docent explained to us how much of a
Roman influence was part of the Arles
culture.
Artifacts from digsites,
a boat that was excavated in five
parts, recovered
mosaic floors and intricately
carved sarcophagi were the main
features of the tour.
A
passport allowing us to visit four of the many historic sites in Arles was purchased for each member of the tour group.
Entry to an exhibit was stamped on the passport upon visiting a site.
