Café Kléber

It
was time to try out the food in Paris. The first meal would be a
lunch, but Marlene was not hungry enough to order a full meal and she wanted
something light. I ordered what was the first of many formule meals
whcih included
Soup
de Legumes de Saison (seasonal vegetable shoup),
Poulet
Fermier and Frites (free range chicken and fries) and
Accompagne de sa Petite Mousse Au Chocolat (Expresso with mini chocolate
mousse. Marlene had the soup, the mousse and the expresso. I had
the chicken and fries. Wanting to have dessert too, I also ordered a
Crêpes Glacées (crêpes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and almonds).
with the ice cream melting fast, I started to dislike crêpes which was my
sentiment for crêpes thereafter. Alas, no pics of the crêpe.
Café du Trocadéro

The first night in France was spent just a doorstep away from our hotel.
The night's dinner was to recognize and thank our matchmaker and her husbnd
for bringing all of us together. It was a no holds bar meal which started
off with two orders of that chewy morsel,
Escargot. Each order allowed each
of us six snails. The ladies each ordered a
Thon snacké (Thai salad),
Michael orderd Cabillaud cuit vapeur (steamed cod) and I ordered the special of the day,
Côtelettes d'agneau
(lamb chops with garlic).
The meal was most memorable for not only
the occasion, but also the food. An encore visit after the tour would
porove this.
Le Départ Saint Michel

Unknown
as to why we chose the inside seating vice the outside initially, we decide
shade would be better. We realized why when it started to rain heavy
midway during our meal. and we realized why. The food was standard
cafe food Orderd French
onion
soup,
Nicoise salad and once again
duck
confit with frites. Not sure why the second order of the duck.
Must like the stuff.
Entertainment was provided by the passing
pedestrians who braved the rain and those who hired one of the many taxis
waiting for passengers along the side of the restaurant. All the taxis
were gone just as the rain stopped which was also the time we finished
lunch.
Fables de la Fontaine
Note: no pics
taken......pics featured came from an encore visit to this restaurant on 6/8

Not
sure what to expect from a Michelin star restaurant, so I would have high
expectations of whatever was brought out. I was not disappointed.
To start, a small plate with four wooden finger cupf of a
chilled
cucumber soup came out with four little biscuits. It was one of
those "how did they make it taste so good?" moments of the meal, and it
would not be the last. Like the uncouf American tourist I was, I
simply downed it like a shot of whiskey (not that I drink or anything like
that). It went down good.
What I ordered started off with a
French onion soup followed by a moist and tender hake (
lean
white fish that is part of the cod family) dish. Dessert was a
rice pudding souffle.
What didn't go well for the meal was the
fact that an order was misheard so one Marlene got the wrong order but
fortunately Michael was OK with what Marlene got and Marlene was OK with the
trade. And about that dessert.....I didn't get the black bottle of
caramel......but it still was as all good.
