Marlene
decided to share a sandwich from this hole in the wall sandwich shop.
She wanted to try their chicken kabab sandwich which came with fries.
Normally we'd expect the fries to be separated from the sandwich, but
unfortunately the fries literally came with the sandwich......both in the same
container and mixed together....needed more napkins. Don't get me wrong,
it was very tasty (maybe we were just very hungry). We decided on ice
cream from a different ship to wash it down.
Not sure if we decided to eat under the umbrellas or that we were herded to
one of the tables under the umberella. We weren't the only ones as the
fab four sat across from us.. Our waiter had it easy....just two dishes
times two. The ladies ate....you guessed it,
Niçoise salads and the guys
ate a dish Toni suggested....Raviolis a la Niçoise Maison (beef stew over raviolis).
The salad was more authentic? Besides the tuna, it had anchovies and the
presentation was a bit nicer. As for the stew over raviolis.......it
would have been nice to drown the raviolis with the stew......could have used
a lot more stew to cover the bare raviolis.
Not wanting to eat a heavy meal before our final group dinner
and the fact that a two hour meal (usually how much time we spend on a sit
down meal) would take time away from shopping, we decided to
dine on what we could find at a nearby supermarket. Marlene had a Lentil
salad and I had a
sandwich. Downed it with a carton of
jus multifruits.
Walked back to a spot along the northwest corner of the Promendade du Paillon
on the Avenue Felix Faure for a picnic.
Our final group dinner did not include all of the group as Mike and Mare had
to leave early the next morning. With that said, the restaurant seemed
really classy once seated. It felt like having a meal in a gentleman's
club like that one would see in a movie. To start off we were served an
apéritif which I gave to Nina sitting at another table.
A
menu was left with each place setting.
Marlene had the
vegetables, the sea bream and the Millefeuille. I had the soup, duck and
fondant. I thought Marlene had the better meal except for maybe the
duck. The soup was pureed and had nothing to sink my teeth into.
The fondant was a bit dry. Ice cream might have helped.
