Arles (6/3 -6/4)

About

Arles is a city on the Rhône River in the Provence region of southern France. It's famed for inspiring the paintings of Van Gogh, which influenced the contemporary art displayed at the Foundation Vincent Van Gogh. Once a provincial capital of ancient Rome, Arles is also known for many remains from that era, including Arles Amphitheatre (les Arènes d'Arles), now hosting plays, concerts and bullfights.

My Thoughts

Of all the cities visited in France none other than Arles made me think I'd want to return.  Maybe it was due to the lost pictures of and entire day.  It's not that I'd want to revisit the sites, but it might be nice to visit the other sites not visited.  I might also want to simply eat at eateries vice buying food at the local supermarket.  Doing that twice was simply not what I wanted to do on vacation.  There was one moment in time when I could feel my jaw drop.  It would happen only once during the entire trip.  It was a good thing I was a lot older and with Marlene at the time.  It was one of those moments in time.

Lodging

One of the negatives for this hotel was the fact we had to cross a park to get to The Calendal.  The street could not accommodate the bus.  It was however located across from the coliseum with eateries all around.  There was a "fast food" area in the lobby and a restaurant next door.  A highlight was the fresh squeeze OJ the hotel guest could make for themselves as with boiled eggs.
